Diabetes and the risk of stroke

Diabetes is a serious health condition that can ultimately lead to a variety of other serious health conditions. A higher risk of a stroke occurring is just one of the many problems that individuals who suffer from diabetes are at a higher risk of acquiring due to this type of health condition. There are a few factors that can make the possibility of a stroke even higher in people that have diabetes. These factors would include smoking cigarettes and having high blood cholesterol levels.

Each of these are bad for a person’s health but they can as much as double a person’s risk of having a stroke when they also have diabetes.
