Foods that increase sperm count
Some foods increase sperm production, sperm count as well as sperm motility. If you suffer from any auto-immune disease or if you suffer from high cholesterol, it is advisable to discuss with your doctor which of these foods will be suitable for you. Foods rich in Vitamin A are great for enhancing sperm count. Foods such as carrots, oatmeal, dark green lettuce, sweet potatoes, broccoli, red peppers and dried apricots go a long way in helping increase sperm count. Foods rich in Vitamin C such as snow peas, asparagus, tomatoes, strawberries, red peppers, yellow veggies, fruits and kale help increase sperm count. Foods rich in Zinc also help increase sperm count. Zinc increases testosterone levels and thereby ensure that healthy sperm are produced. Some of the foods rich in zinc are corn, beef, oatmeal, turkey, seafood, eggs, yogurt, pumpkin seeds and oysters. There is an association between folic acid and good sperm count. It has been proved that people who do not have enough folic acid in their diet suffer from low sperm count due to chromosomal deformities. Foods rich in folic acid include avocados, whole grains, beans, green leafy vegetables and fruits.
Foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for a good sperm count. These foods improve blood flow to the genitals and therefore stimulate sexual function. Apart from this, omega-3 fatty acids are present in mature sperm and therefore this fatty acid is essential to sperm production, count as well as motility. Foods rich in omegs-3 fatty acids include fatty fish such as salmon and sardines. Other foods rich in these fatty acids are crab, shrimp, chicken, walnuts and anchovies, flax and soybean.
