Are there Side Effects When Taking Vitamins?

Vitamin A side effects that can occur are Anorexia, vomiting, bulging fontanelles and / or hyperirritability may arise as side effects. Vitamin A dosage in chronic (adult) could result in Anorexia, loss of hair, bluffed vision and headache. It may also cause ones lips to bleed, skin to peel, crack, experience stiffness and pain in muscle. Many times liver could see enlargement and damage. Anemia could result. In extreme cases brain and nervous system could be injured.

 Vitamin B12 has no side effects as such. Vitamin C can cause Nausea and diarrhea. And vitamin C would cause increased level of uric acid and urinary oxalate and reduced level of carotene utilization. All these may result in mineral loss in body. Suddenly if you stop taking vitamin C, it can also rebound scurvy. Vitamin C can also cause kidney stones and affect bladder. Vitamin D could cause loss of appetite, vomiting, nausea, headache, diarrhea, excessive thirst and excessive urination. Side effects of Vitamin D are weight loss, constipation, pallor, fever and hypocalcaemia. In infants excessive calcium deposition in kidneys and blood may occur.

  In adults also deposition of calcium in body may occur. This could be mistaken as cancer. Side effects of vitamin D are deafness and nausea. Serious problems of side effects are heart problems including high blood pressure, and increased cholesterol levels, kidney stones and increased absorption of lead. Side effects of Vitamin E and k are fatigue and liver enlargements respectively.
