How to use Salicylic Acid?
All salicylic acid medications found over-the-counter have a range of 0.5% – 2% salicylic acid concentration, usually comes with a once – daily application. It is always recommended to abide by the instruction on the packaging. Like all medications, the usage depends on the preference of each individual.
To avoid a common misconception, never use more than one salicylic acid products together. It will not cure your skin anomaly any faster than it is supposed to but would, in fact, make the skin extremely dry. It is recommended to start off with any one of salicylic acid gel, cream, lotion or pads. After a while when the skin is quite clear, pads or gels can be replaced by salicylic acid scrub or wash to sustain the clear skin.
Application of Salicylic Acid is similar to many topical treatments, is should be put on only in the affected areas or on the total face area. It would prove ineffective to use Salicylic Acid as spot treatment only. It is required to apply entirely on the affected areas in order to clear tiny spots (microcomedones) and help avoid blockage of pores.
It is necessary to continue the use of salicylic acid to gain and preserve successful results. If the usage of salicylic acid treatment is stopped, for any reason, excessive dead cells and oil would clog up the pores again, enhancing the chances of the skin anomaly to return.
