Which Vitamin B Is Niacin?

Out of the 8 water soluble B vitamins, vitamin B3 is known as niacin and it also has other two forms namely niacinamide and the other is inositol hexanicotinate. The above two mentioned names are two different forms of niacin.

 Niacin is responsible for making sex related hormones as well as stress related hormones in the adrenal glands. It helps to improve the circulation of blood followed by reduction of cholesterol level. Niacin can be easily obtained from the diet and there are very rare cases in the world which reports the person with deficiency of niacin. If niacin is taken in very large amount, then the body gets the strength to prevent or improve the disorders such as high cholesterol, diabetes, atherosclerosis and many more. Niacin or vitamin B3 is available in the form of tablet or capsule. Meat, fish, peanuts are some of the common source of vitamin B3.

 Niacin is must for cell respiration process and is necessary for the metabolism of fats and carbohydrates. They also support in proper circulation of blood and keeping the skin healthy. It helps the body to get rid of bad cholesterol thereby preventing the risk of heart problems. If food is cooked in water, then the amount of niacin in it reduces.
